Conventions of Magazine Front Covers and Content Pages

Front Covers;

-Bright colours, a colour scheme will be used for text and there will be 3-5 colours.
-There will be one main image on the cover that will be used. It usually is a celebrity/'star', their facial expression will convey personality or the image of the celebrity/'star' may use direct address by having eye contact with the reader.
-The price will usually be small.
-The central cover line will link to the main image.
-There will be smaller cover lines that are arranged around the face of the cover image.
-If the cover image has more then one person, then they will usually have one person in the foreground.
-Page numbers may be used next to cover lines.
-There can be other products, freebies, posters, competitions may be advertised.
-Different fonts will be used, but not too many.
-The background will be plain either white or light.
-Clothing that is worn in the cover image will match the style/fashion of their personality.
-The Issue number is quite small with the bar code.  
-The Cover image and text are all layered; Master head/Cover image/Cover lines.
-Over lines are written in a entertaining way to lure the reader e.g. Rhetorical question.
-The master head of the magazine has connotations linked to the content
-A banner may be used as a background for text

Content page;
-There will be a section from the editor 'speaks' to the reader, it will be in a informal style. Called a Editorial.
-Photographs will illustrate some of the main articles on the content page.
-There will be offers for the magazine, reduced rates etc.
-The colour scheme is consistent with the front cover.
-Quotes are used from the articles.
-Sub-headings are used to group articles together with similar content.
-They  are similar with the layering affect and the head line at the top.
-The pictures are of people/faces.
-The content/list are laid out in columns.
-There is no empty spaces.
